Summary:

This book is a collection of poems, stories, and essays of the people and events that have challenged me to make life-changing decisions in the way I view and live my life. It is a kaleidoscope of the daily events, episodes and experiences that have caused me to pause and ponder over the emotions, shock and bewilderment to my brain. They have motivated me to take stock of myself and stay grounded to think first, then act. On a personal level, I have experienced a change within the core of my soul and spirit.I will not allow anyone to interrupt or discourage my rhythm and alignment, for we are all unique who are driven to travel our own destiny. I wish to let everyone know that we all have the same trials, stress, anxiety and burdens of life's trials and tribulations. If we unite with one another together we will weather the storm for the duration of the journey we are destined to travel. I wish to inspire the reader to see life through the truths, flaws and realities of my life.

Summary:

Much has been written about the leaders of the Nazi Party which dominated Germany from 1933 to 1945. But what about the lives of ordinary Germans who struggled to survive World War II and rebuild their lives and cities in the post war period? The last five years have seen an intensification of efforts to capture their stories and perspectives as they pass on into history. The survivors of this time period often choose not to remember war-associated events either publicly or sometimes even inside their own families. But there were memories, witnesses and the occasional diary. A Time To Remember attempts to catch some of this past in eight narratives focused on varying locations, time periods and challenges. All are based on real people and real events as recorded by the author in his forty-plus years of close association with Germany and Germans.

Summary:

This book is about a couple who fell in love quickly. They wanted to follow what God wanted for them, and they talked with their pastor about what they should do. They attended premarriage counseling and fell deeper in love over the next two months. They wanted to be married more than ever after the counseling sessions were over, and they asked the preacher if he would marry them. The preacher wanted them to wait another month so that they could get to know each other's families. Michael and Donna didn't think that they could wait that long and still did as God wanted them to. Donna's father didn't want them to get married. Michael wanted his family to meet her, so they planned to go to his mother's house for them to meet. On the way to his mother's house, they stopped to visit a small church. After the service, they asked the pastor if he would marry them, and the pastor asked them questions; then he married them. On their way to his mother's house, they stopped at a hotel for the night and were attacked by three men. They beat up Michael very badly and then went after Donna. Her father stopped the men and took her to the hospital to be checked out. When she was released, her father took her home. Find out what happens to this young couple. Hopefully you will enjoy this book with all its twists and turns along the way.

Summary:

When I think of the past, I cannot help remembering how funny some of events were, although they did not seem so at the time. In my search for a better job, I encountered people that enriched my life no matter how odd they seemed and believe me some were more than odd. My best memory was that of sharing an apartment with Bambi for a year and when the lease ended, we were asked to leave. There was my encounter with my neighbor Henri, an older refined gentleman I met when I purchased a townhome two doors down from Henri. He was a terrible driver and got into troubled whenever he got behind the wheel of a car. The police knew about Henri’s driving, but he was so charming the police would always let him go. A decision they would soon regret. Another special memory was working at “a hospital called horse”. It occurred to me while working there, that medical people have a different sense of humor than non-medical people. “Meet the Harrisons” tells of how a family functioned with a loving mother who was a chronic sleepwalker and who did amazing things while sleepwalking. A kind and intelligent father, who kept a bottle of booze in the garage and on Saturdays would go to the garage to work on whatever and sip a bit of bourbon. “Millie flew over the cuckoo’s nest.” When I first met mille, I could tell immediately that something was wrong with the women”, therefore, I stayed clear of her as much as possible. The last I heard of Millie was her showing up to church dressed in clothing that did not meet the norm for church wear. “Lulu arrives”, is a story of success. When everyone considers you dumb and you succeed beyond expectations, it is a wonderful feeling. “Mona an unpredictable women” was the third grade student who was accused of goring her teacher with a compass protractor. “Cary and Judy Judy Judy” were the fun couple who I considered a lot over the top.

In 'A Time to Remember', Kate can hardly contain her excitement when she finds out her daughter has gone into labour: she is going to be a grandmother! As the time passes whilst they wait for news of the new arrival, Kate finds herself reminiscing of her relationship with her own grandmother, and how time has flown. In 'Model of Beauty', Jilly has been enjoying her painting classes. She has been mocking the ample-sized model who has been sitting for them lately, but the tables are turned when the teacher decides they are all to paint each other - and Jilly becomes the model herself. Will she think her portrait a true likeness? And what will come of having someone pay such close attention to her? In 'View from Beacon Hill', Alison enjoys her time on Beacon Hill. It is where she has the space to consider her life, and the choices she has made and has yet to make. Eight and a half months pregnant, with only days to go until her due date, her life is about to change forever. But might she change her mind about the decisions she has made? Part of the Storycuts series, these three short stories were previously published in the collection Summer Promises and Other Stories.

Summary:

People usually think of discrimination as being against black or other ethnic minorities. Think again. "THEY" Cripple Society Volumes 1 and 2 will show how it is also practiced, usually by white people, very abundantly and severely against certain good caliber white people. It is damaging to human personhood, character, career and health. The books establish that a considerable portion of the general population, in high places and low, discriminate against fine people who are exceptional in certain ways, either academically or otherwise. This discrimination cripples society by robbing it of some of its better charactered citizens - students, employees, managers, professionals and other people of sometimes outstanding ability. This story of mental abuse and mental cruelty and of the long overlooked social problem it presents, was written from the Christian perspective of the author, but it also has a message for people in the numerous secular occupations. About the Author The author, Cleon E. Spencer, has had a varied experience in commerce, industry, and as a minister of the church for many years. He has been able to combine his life experiences with those of other people he has known and/or ministered to. It is on these unique experiences in society, including the church, that the writings of this "THEY" Cripple Society Volume 2, and its preceding "THEY" Cripple Society Volume 1 are written. The author is grateful to Ada, his wife for fifty-eight years, for doing all the original computer typing on both books.

Summary:

This collection of 52 children's sermon, is designed to captivate and educate young children. Busy clergy are constantly searching for ready-to-use, interactive children's sermons that will stimulate the thinking and capture the interest of both youngsters and adults in the congregation. These messages are presented to challenge, nurture, teach, and enlighten children as they take their first steps of faith. They cover a wide variety of topics. Some are object lessons and others are story lessons, but all will leave an impression on those who hear them.Imagine the curious anticipation of the children and the congregation as the pastor/leader reaches into a plastic garbage bag and distributes empty pizza boxes, old newspapers, and soft drink cans to introduce "God, the Recycler", the One who can make everything new. Watch them readily grasp the concept as they observe a game of tug-of-war in which all the participants are on the same team, demonstrating how in the church we all pull together for a common purpose and no one struggles to pull anyone into the mud.
