How many of us have an open treasure chest of gold (our spiritual growth) waiting to be claimed on a deserted beach? Spiritual growth is the process of becoming more and more like Jesus Christ. When we place our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit begins the process of making us more like Him. Spiritual growth is perhaps described in 2 Peter 1:3-8, which tells us that by God’s power we have “everything need” to live lives of godliness, which is the goal of spiritual growth. What we need comes “through our knowledge of Him, “which is the key to obtaining everything we need. Our knowledge of Him coms from the Word, given to us for our edification and growth. There are two lists in Galatians 5:19-23. Verses 19-21 list the “acts of the flesh.” These are the things that identify our lives before we came to Christ for salvation. The “acts of the flesh” are the activities we are to confess, repent of, and, with God’s help, overcome. As we experience spiritual growth, fewer and fewer of the “acts of the flesh” will be evident in our lives. The second list is the “fruit of the Spirit” (verses 22-23). These are things that should characterize our lives now that we have experienced salvation in Jesus Christ. Spiritual growth is identified by the “fruit of the Spirit” becoming increasingly evident in a believer’s life. When the transformation of salvation takes place, spiritual growth begins. The Holy Spirit indwells us (John 14:16-17). We are new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old, sinful nature begins to give away to the new, Christ like nature (Romans 6-7). Spiritual growth is a lifelong process that depends on our study and application of God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and our walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26). As we seek spiritual growth, we should pray to God and ask for wisdom concerning the areas He desires us to grow. We can ask God to increase our faith and knowledge of Him. God desires us to grow spiritually, and He has given us all we need to experience spiritual growth. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can overcome sin and steadily become more like our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. How do I get there?

Success is the by-product of goal setting and a sincere effort towards achieving these goals. The process of Goal-Setting is the quest to achieve that much-desired success. Our mind is a powerful tool of manifestation that can perform miracles when guided well, and the process of goal setting intensifies that power. You are capable of achieving way more than you have right now. All you need to do is Think it, Ink it and Achieve it. After all, “Energy goes where Attention flows”. Set Goals, Set Life is for anyone who wishes to make their life better.
Champions, as the familiar adage preaches, are not born—they're made. Reaching the top of any sport, or any aspect of life, takes years upon years of dedication and proper preparation. But if there's a huge pool of individuals who have undertaken the same commitment and steps towards becoming the best, what truly separates the winners from everyone else? Joanna Zeiger believes proper mental preparation is the answer. The Champion Mindset is a much-needed and long overdue look into how to program a competitor's mind to achieve optimal success. Changing behaviors and ways of thinking are never easy, but the chapters in this book aim to simplify this process to make it manageable and achievable. This book is for every athlete—from the weekend warrior, who wants to complete in his or her first 5k running race, to those who have aspirations of one day becoming Olympians and world champions. The Champion Mindset is a compendium of Zeiger's own personal journey from struggling novice swimmer to Olympian and World Champion. Through steps including: Proper Goal Setting, Keeping it Fun, Building Your Team, Intention in Training, Improving Motivation, Promoting Self-Confidence, and Mind/Body Cohesion, among others, Zeiger uses her decades of personal experience, doctoral-level research, and professional success, to prepare readers to go all-in with their mental game.
If you're reading this page, you probably have a goal you'd like to accomplish or plans you'd like to execute. You know you need a push but you may not be sure what kind of push you need. Or you may know what kind of push you need but not how to get it. I recognize that feeling. I've felt it myself. It can be isolating and frustrating. It can also seem like it's your fault that you need this push. Yes it is your job to take the steps to fulfill your destiny but sometimes the day to day details of life can become overwhelming. As we get older, we begin to realize that while pursuing our dreams is important so is becoming a responsible adult. You may find yourself with a job, family and household to run or take care of and those daily tasks take time. In fact, they can take up all of your time without you realizing it. They're all important. You can't NOT do them. You don't have that option. What typically ends up happening in these situations is that we put ourselves on the back burner. We sacrifice our need to pursue our dreams in favor of doing what is expected of us. If possible, we honor our need for time to focus on ourselves to those moments when we're not being called upon to handle daily tasks. You Are Responsible For Your Success! Ultimately YOU are the only one who has power over your life. If you aren't pursuing your goals because of someone else, you are essentially using that person as an excuse or a buffer. It's always easier to place responsibility on someone else than yourself. Stepping outside of your comfort zone isn't easy. You shouldn't expect it to be easy. Be prepared to do some tough personal work. If you have goals to pursue but haven't, it's important that you figure out why and fix it. I've been where you are. In fact, I expect I'll be here again. The process of stepping outside of your comfort zone and pushing your limits is an ongoing one. It doesn't really get any easier. It just becomes an integral part of personal growth. To give you a head start, I've written a special guide on this subject so you can finally step outside of your comfort zone. Here's what you'll discover in the Push Your Limits guide: How to get out of the rut you're stuck in. What is success and what does it mean to you? Read this important chapter before moving ahead. How to change your perspective and tap into your calling. Getting comfortable being uncomfortable as a way to achieve real success and results. Your comfort zones and how to break free from them. The different types of comfort zones in your life and how to approach each one. strong...and much, much more!
Centered reminds me that I have many more roads to travel, many more things to achieve . . . and I will continue to be centered, being more responsible in order to achieve my goals and make my dreams come true! As Willie G. spoke and read the words, following a discussion, his students began to understand what they had done wrong or why they were taking those actions. There was a feeling of relief and gratitude for this instructor that appeared to be more like a grandfather figure than a teacher. He had kept his word to not inform others unless the student was intending to injure himself/herself or another, and now the student would keep theirs. He used verses to make a statement about the situation, and now he wants to share these thoughts with others.
In my life I have been blessed to touch many lives. Sometimes I was able to give encouragement with a song that I sung. Sometimes I was able to give a meal to a hungry person. I've even been able to speak to a crowd of people and turn someone's life around. When I look at all that God has allowed me to do through him, nothing that I have ever done is more important to me than this. My body exists for a moment in time, but my words are a part of my soul. I want nothing more out of this life than for you to write my words on your heart. I want to give you every advantage that has been placed in my hands. You are my daughter, my pride and my joy. I look at you and smile and I feel tears burning in my eye lids. In your eyes I see hope, I see joy, I see freedom and liberation. This is the great gift of God and this world will try to take this gift from you. God in his wisdom has sent you a guardian angel; a father that is waiting to fight for your protection. My sword is drawn and my heart is wide open. My words will watch over your heart and protect your spirit from corruption. This world will throw the gauntlet at you, but God has provided a shield of faith that can sustain you when times get hard. If you follow Gods plan he will lead you through valleys and place you on top of mountains. Both places have their difficulties but when God is leading, you can rest assure that you are under his protection. Don't allow this life to ever take your heart away from you. I love you Christiana, with all my heart and soul!

A week away for brother’s wedding was supposed to be a chance to unwind, not get tangled up with a bridesmaid… I have an injury that could end my career— and unless I’m ready to hang up my skates and become a hockey has been, the only thing I should be focusing on is getting healthy and playing my next season. Kimmy saunters into my life at the worst possible time, but when she proposes a “what happens in Vegas” type situation, I figured what could it hurt. Especially when we’re both on the same page—one week and then we go our separate ways… three hundred miles apart. Before I know it, I’m all wrapped up in her—and not just her body. Her smiles. That wild, untamable hair. Her laughter. Confidence. Hell, she’s everything I’ve been looking for and I can’t keep my hands off her. It was supposed to be a fling, but now I want more. Even if it means I’m in for the fight of my life. This might be my only shot… and I’m taking it.

The human body has long been a rich source of inspiration for the arts, and artists have long recognized the body's special status. While the scientific study of body perception also has an important history, recent technological advances have triggered an explosion of research on the visual perception of the human body in motion, or as it is traditionally called, biological motion perception. Now reaching a point of burgeoning inter-disciplinary focus, biological motion perception research is poised to transform our understanding of person construal. Indeed, several factors highlight a privileged role for the human body as one of the most critical classes of stimuli affecting social perception. Human bodies in motion, for example, are among the most frequent moving stimulus in our environment. They can be readily perceived at a physical distance or visual vantage that precludes face perception. Moreover, body motion conveys meaningful psychological information such as social categories, emotion state, intentions, and underlying dispositions. Thus, body perception appears to serve as a first-pass filter for a vast array of social judgments from the routine (e.g., perceived friendliness in interactions) to the grave (e.g., perceived threat by law enforcement). This book provides an exciting integration of theory and findings that clarify how the human body is perceived by observers.

'D.R.E.A.M.C.H.A.S.E.R: 8 Ways to Make it Happen'. Its aimed primarily at young people and uses examples of contemporary popular culture to hopefully inspire and motivate. I make references to song lyrics, movie quotes, biographical references from celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, Rihanna, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Jordan, J.K Rowling, Lady Gaga and Jay-Z to name but a few, in an attempt to inspire, awaken, empower and help people take action towards the realisation of their dreams. I decided to use examples of celebrities who have experienced real setbacks in their personal and professional lives but went on to achieve an extraordinary amount of success. These celebrities have been specifically chosen to relate to a youth audience and the book is written in a language and in a context that should also appeal to this audience. I want the youth of today to aspire to greatness but also see the truth behind greatness...that many of the people we view as 'the greats' have had enormous setbacks which could easily have made them give up on their dreams but their self belief, strong work ethic, determination and desire to achieve them helped them overcome these obstacles. Actor and mega star, Will Smith once saidpeople view greatness as this unachievable thing reading D.R.E.A.M.C.H.A.S.E.R will help people realise that greatness is achievable and will also hopefully help them kick start their Dream Chase
An interdisciplinary exploration of perceptual and cognitive processes underlying the ability to perceive social information, drawing on current research and new experimental techniques. As we enter a room full of people, we instantly have a number of social perceptions. We have an automatic perception of others as subjective agents with their own points of view, thoughts, and goals, and we can quickly interpret minimal visual information to infer that something is animate. This book explores the perceptual and cognitive processes that allow humans to perceive and understand this social information quickly and apparently effortlessly. Top researchers in fields ranging from developmental psychology to vision science consider the perception of biological and animate motion, inferences based on this motion, and the early development of these abilities. These innovative contributions reflect a recent renewal of interest in the attribution of agency and the understanding of goal-directed behavior, which has been accompanied by a rapid increase in empirical discoveries enabled by such new experimental techniques as brain imaging. The research presented in Social Perception suggests that an intuitive understanding of others is an integral part of human psychology, develops early, relies on a network of brain regions, and may be compromised in autism. In the near-future, Marcus -the leader of a fair-to-middling mercenary band- is betrayed by one of his crew over an obscure ideology that seems anathema to the norms of galactic society, prompting a search for answers. As he seeks to understand this alien ideology, Marcus finds himself walking the path of their betrayer, and struggling to balance his growing fanaticism with his ties to the real world, in a galaxy that he has come to detest. Against a backdrop of Military Science Fiction, The Shadow Chasers is an ideological inquisition in pursuit of a purely cognitive "meaning of life".
The indispensable reference tool for the groundbreaking science of evolutionary psychology Why is the mind designed the way it is? How does input from the environment interact with the mind to produce behavior? These are the big, unanswered questions that the field of evolutionary psychology seeks to explore. The Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology is the seminal work in this vibrant, quickly-developing new discipline. In this thorough revision and expansion, luminaries in the field provide an in-depth exploration of the foundations of evolutionary psychology and explain the new empirical discoveries and theoretical developments that continue at a breathtaking pace. Evolutionary psychologists posit that the mind has a specialized and complex structure, just as the body has a specialized and complex structure. From this important theoretical concept arises the vast array of possibilities that are at the core of the field, which seeks to examine such traits as perception, language, and memory from an evolutionary perspective. This examination is intended to determine the human psychological traits that are the products of sexual and natural selection and, as such, to chart and understand human nature. Join the discussion of the big questions addressed by the burgeoning field of evolutionary psychology Explore the foundations of evolutionary psychology, from theory and methods to the thoughts of EP critics Discover the psychology of human survival, mating, parenting, cooperation and conflict, culture, and more Identify how evolutionary psychology is interwoven with other academic subjects and traditional psychological disciplines The Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology is the definitive guide for every psychologist and student interested in keeping abreast of new ideas in this quickly-developing field.

This book describes, for the first time in pedagogical form, an approach to computer-based work in complex sociotechnical systems developed over the last 30 years by Jens Rasmussen and his colleagues at Risø National Laboratory in Roskilde, Denmark. This approach is represented by a framework called cognitive work analysis. Its goal is to help designers of complex sociotechnical systems create computer-based information support that helps workers adapt to the unexpected and changing demands of their jobs. In short, cognitive work analysis is about designing for adaptation. The book is divided into four parts. Part I provides a motivation by introducing three themes that tie the book together--safety, productivity, and worker health. The ecological approach that serves as the conceptual basis behind the book is also described. In addition, a glossary of terms is provided. Part II situates the ideas in the book in a broader intellectual context by reviewing alternative approaches to work analysis. The limitations of normative and descriptive approaches are outlined, and the rationale behind the formative approach advocated in this book is explored. Part III describes the concepts that comprise the cognitive work analysis framework in detail. Each concept is illustrated by a case study, and the implications of the framework for design and research are illustrated by example. Part IV unifies the themes of safety, productivity, and health, and shows why the need for the concepts in this book will only increase in the future. In addition, a historical addendum briefly describes the origins of the ideas described in the book.

This book focuses on the theory and design methods for guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) in the context of spacecraft rendezvous and docking (RVD). The position and attitude dynamics and kinematics equations for RVD are presented systematically in accordance with several different coordinate systems, including elliptical orbital frame, and recommendations are supplied on which of these equations to use in different phases of RVD. The book subsequently explains the basic principles and relative navigation algorithms of RVD sensors such as GNSS, radar, and camera-type RVD sensors. It also provides guidance algorithms and schemes for different phases of RVD, including the latest research advances in rapid RVD. In turn, the book presents a detailed introduction to intelligent adaptive control and proposes corresponding theoretical approaches to thruster configuration and control allocation for RVD. Emphasis is placed on the design method of active and passive trajectory protection in different phases of RVD, and on the safety design of the RVD mission as a whole. For purposes of verification, the Shenzhou spacecraft’s in-orbit flight mission is introduced as well. All issues addressed are described and explained from basic principles to detailed engineering methods and examples, providing aerospace engineers and students both a basic understanding of, and numerous practical engineering methods for, GNC system design in RVD.

A leading developmental psychologist proposes an evolutionary pathway to human psychological agency. Nature cannot build organisms biologically prepared for every contingency they might possibly encounter. Instead, Nature builds some organisms to function as feedback control systems that pursue goals, make informed behavioral decisions about how best to pursue those goals in the current situation, and then monitor behavioral execution for effectiveness. Nature builds psychological agents. In a bold new theoretical proposal, Michael Tomasello advances a typology of the main forms of psychological agency that emerged on the evolutionary pathway to human beings. Tomasello outlines four main types of psychological agency and describes them in evolutionary order of emergence. First was the goal-directed agency of ancient vertebrates, then came the intentional agency of ancient mammals, followed by the rational agency of ancient great apes, ending finally in the socially normative agency of ancient humans. Each new form of psychological organization represented increased complexity in the planning, decision-making, and executive control of behavior. Each also led to new types of experience of the environment and, in some cases, of the organism’s own psychological functioning, leading ultimately to humans’ experience of an objective and normative world that governs all of their thoughts and actions. Together, these proposals constitute a new theoretical framework that both broadens and deepens current approaches in evolutionary psychology.
