God Gave Me You by Tricia Seaman,Diane Nichols Summary

When a single mother with terminal cancer asked a nurse she’d met in the oncology ward to raise her son, neither could have imagined the miracles God had in store. God Gave Me You tells the true story of how these two incredible mothers met, the immediate bond they formed, and the ups and downs of joining families as one’s earthly life ebbed away. The miracle of these two families coming together demonstrates that family isn’t always blood—sometimes it’s made up of the people God gives you if you have a willing heart. Oncology nurse Tricia Seaman and her family had their hearts set on adopting a son. They were months into the grueling process when Tricia met a terminally ill cancer patient on her regular rounds. Curiously, the two shared the same name. Trish Somers was that patient—a single mom whose world revolved around her eight-year-old son, Wesley. As the young mother poured out her fears and emotions during her post-operative care, Tricia sensed theirs would be like no other nurse-patient relationship she had experienced in her career. When the cancer spread, it became clear Trish had only a short time left to live. That’s when the inconceivable happened: Trish asked her nurse—a woman who had been a complete stranger just days before—to raise her beloved son when she passed away. God Gave Me You will inspire you with a story of courage, trust, and faith that God’s plans are bigger and more amazing then we could hope for on our own. It’s a story you’ll turn to again and again when you’re looking for hope and a reason to believe in miracles.

In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute. If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

Talking to Canadians by Rick Mercer Summary

Canada's beloved comic genius tells his own story for the first time. What is Rick Mercer going to do now? That was the question on everyone's lips when the beloved comedian retired his hugely successful TV show after 15 seasons—and at the peak of its popularity. The answer came not long after, when he roared back in a new role as stand-up-comedian, playing to sold-out houses wherever he appeared. And then Covid-19 struck. And his legions of fans began asking again: What is Rick Mercer going to do now? Well, for one thing, he's been writing a comic masterpiece. For the first time, this most private of public figures has turned the spotlight on himself, in a memoir that's as revealing as it is hilarious. In riveting anecdotal style, Rick charts his rise from highly unpromising schoolboy ("Rick still owes 15 dollars to the chocolate bar fundraiser" was one of the less brutal items on a typical report) to heights of TV fame, by way of an amazing break as a teenager when his one-man show, "Show Me the Button, I'll Push It. Or, Charles Lynch Must Die," became an overnight sensation—thanks in part to a bizarre ambush by its target, Charles Lynch himself. That's one story you won't soon forget, and this book is full of them. There's the tale of how little Rick stole a tree from the neighbours that's set to become a new Christmas classic. There's Rick the aspiring actor—hitting the road as a new young punk in a vanload of hippies and appearing on stage in Shakespeare—and a wealth of behind-scenes revelations about This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made in Canada, Talking to Americans and the coming of the mega-hit Rick Mercer Report. It's a life so packed with incident and laughter we can only hope that a future answer to "What is Rick Mercer going to do now?" is: "Write volume two."

Mama Kisses, Papa Hugs by Lisa Tawn Bergren Summary

From the creator of the best-selling God Gave Us You comes a warm exploration of the ways parents show affection--and how it mirrors God's affection for his followers. Parents are always looking out for the perfect bedtime book to create a sense of well-being before a night of rest. Mama Kisses, Papa Hugs explores a child's curiosity about how love is shown between parent and child, with the reassurance that Mama and Papa will always love their little one. And like Lisa Tawn Bergren's young protagonist asks his mother, this question is pressing on the minds of many children: "Mama, how does God kiss us?" Mama smiled. "He kisses us a hundred times a day; although if you don't pay attention, you might miss it." "At night he kisses us with a shooting star. In the morning, he kisses us with sunlight, crawling across the fields and into our windows. On a hot summer afternoon, he kisses us with a gentle breeze. But most of all, he kisses us through our family. That's how God made us. That's why I give you Mama kisses."

God Gave Me You by PJ Beckley Summary

God Gave Me You was written to show God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform. Jean was raised in church, and Kenneth was not. God got a hold in Kenneth's life and changed him entirely. They were two individuals raised in entirely different environments, and God used them for his service. They met in church, married in church, called to preach in church, and raised their family in church. God did miraculous wonders in their lives: Healed their marriage several times, Healed their daughter of rheumatic fever. In their ministry, several received Christ as their Savior, And in the end, God called Kenneth home to be with him. What a great God we serve.

In the Midst of God’s Grace, He gave me.....you. by Shayla Blankenship Summary

Timothy, John found out about us the night of our argument. John was on the balcony listening. He said he heard most all of what we said to each other. Timothy, I have been torn down to rock bottom for betraying him. Timothy, I need you again. I need for you to help me through this terrible chapter of my life. Timothy held me so close and shed tears for me and for John. I never wanted John to know. Elise, I am so sorry about this whole ordeal, but I will never regret having you for mine, at least for the amount of time that we did have. Love never dies, I told Tim. It may sometimes lay dormant in our souls but will always live in our hearts. Timothy, we must wait and I must choose. Time will tell just how our paths will go. I told Timothy that I had never been so torn between one love and another. You understood that didn’t you Timothy, didn’t you? It was always Timothy’s love that lay dormant in the back ground of my heart. I would not tell him this. Soon it would be time, that would make the decision for me and regret would leave me with such inexpiable guilt that would trouble my soul to the depths of the earth.

Staying out of Pits by Pneuma Phillips Summary

Staying Out of Pits: A Revelation of the Victory is the second of three books written by Pneuma Phillips. It is a continuation of the first book, Out of the Pit: The Work of Grace (if you have not read it, we suggest you do). We averred that though we were once in a pit of sin, God had saved us by pulling us out (Psalm 40:13, KJV; Colossians 1:1314, MSG) through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this book, we recognize different pits we do not need to accept: the pit of sin, self, failure, fear, hell and Hades, sicknesses and diseases, poverty and lack, curses, religion, and pit of death (Exodus 7:112:40). God wants us to know that, by the sacrifice of Jesus, we have victory. An understanding of this victory will help us stay out and enjoy victory over every pit, such as sin (Romans 6:11, 14, NLT), self (Matthew 16:2425, ISV), failure (Thessalonians 1:11, MSG), fear (John 14:1, NLT; 2 Timothy 1:7, MSG), hell and Hades (Matthews 25:3234), sickness and diseases (Isaiah 53:45, MSG), poverty and lack (2 Corinthians 8:9, NLT), curses (Galatians 3:1314, MSG), religion (Romans 10:13, MSG), and death (1 Corinthians 15:5557, MSG). We therefore rejoice always because we have the victory over every pit. We stay in our victory by constantly looking unto Jesus and depending on God. How? In 1 Corinthians 10:1315, Romans 6:11, and Galatians 5:16, we learn five key things. God is faithful, so God does not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. He has made a way of escape so we reckon ourselves dead to sin but alive in Christ. Thereafter, we must yield to the Spirit not to gratify the desires of the flesh or experience the limitations of any pit.
